1. About Pausa

Pausa ("we", "us", "our") is a subscription management service that helps you track, analyse and manage your recurring payments. By using Pausa you agree to these terms.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or older to use Pausa. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must provide accurate information when registering. One account per person.

3. What we do with your data

We use your bank transaction data solely to detect and display your subscriptions. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except as required to provide the service (bank connection providers, payment processors). We cannot and do not move money from your accounts.

4. Bank connections

Bank connections are provided via TrueLayer, an FCA-regulated open banking provider. Access is read-only. You can disconnect your bank at any time. Re-authentication may be required every 90 days as required by UK Open Banking regulations.

5. AI features

Our smart suggestions provide general guidance only. Nothing constitutes financial advice. You should not make financial decisions based solely on AI output. Pausa accepts no liability for decisions made based on AI suggestions.

6. Pro subscription

Pro is billed monthly at £3.99/month. You can cancel at any time — access continues until the end of the billing period. No refunds for partial months. Prices may change with 30 days notice.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use Pausa to: attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, scrape or harvest data, violate any applicable laws, or impersonate others.

8. Limitation of liability

Pausa is provided "as is". We are not liable for any losses arising from use of the service, including but not limited to financial losses, data loss, or service interruption. Our maximum liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination, your data is deleted within 30 days.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by English law. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of English courts.

What data we collect

We collect: your email address, encrypted password, subscription details you add manually or import, bank transaction data (temporarily, to detect subscriptions), usage data (which features you use), and AI conversation history (stored in-session only, not persisted).

How we use your data

We use your data to: provide the Pausa service, detect your subscriptions from bank transactions, send you reminders and weekly digests (if enabled), process your Pro subscription payment, and improve the service.

Bank transaction data

When you connect your bank, we receive transaction data from TrueLayer (FCA regulated). We process this data to detect subscription patterns. We do not store raw transactions — only the subscription name, amount and billing cycle we detect. Bank access tokens are encrypted at rest.

Who we share data with

We share data with:

  • TrueLayer — to connect your bank (FCA regulated, read-only)
  • Stripe — to process Pro subscription payments
  • OpenAI — your subscription names and amounts are sent to generate AI advice
  • Brevo — to send transactional emails
  • Railway / Supabase — for hosting and database

We never sell your data. We never share your data for advertising.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — email us and we will send everything we hold
  • Delete your data — delete your account and all data is removed within 30 days
  • Correct your data — update it in Settings
  • Port your data — export via Settings → Export
  • Object to processing — contact us at privacy@pausa.app
Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. On deletion, your data is removed within 30 days. Payment records are kept for 7 years as required by law.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. No advertising cookies. No tracking cookies. No third-party analytics.

Security

Passwords are bcrypt hashed. Bank tokens are encrypted at rest. All connections use HTTPS. We maintain an audit log of account access.
